LINIAN's Lockdown Learning

With the government advice to stay home at the end of March, we (like many businesses) went remote. We took to new ways of working, team meetings on Zoom, tracking of daily tasks with Monday.com, avoiding burnout by communicating with family and friends on Houseparty, and most importantly taking time to be more zen with Headspace. If you’re continuing working from home or looking for more ways to work from a social distance, you can check out our guide to collaborative working HERE.

While we can’t wait to get back to working together in real life, we’ve found real benefit in the new found extra time. Our daily commute and travel to meetings has been replaced with working on ourselves and brushing up skills, utilising the resources that have become available since the start of lockdown. The influx of educational tools from industry leaders has been hugely beneficial in keeping our knowledge up to date, we have even been lucky enough to share our own wisdom.

Lockdown hasn’t been easy, but it has taught us a lot of things and we will continue to incorporate these new ways of working when things eventually return to normal (whenever that may be). In the meantime, we have listed some resources we have found useful during this time below.

Voltimum UK Webinars

Throughout the entirety of lockdown Voltimum have been sharing an abundance of useful resources whether you’re a brand like us looking to increase your commercial awareness through their virtual exhibitions or working in the trade looking for some expertise, they have you covered. Our Managing Director, Ian Arbuckle, got in on the action and hosted a webinar covering the BS7671: 2018 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, which you can check out HERE.

Prevent COVID-19 Online Course from Virtual College

The Prevent COVID-19 Online Course is a FREE Virtual College Accredited course which has been designed to help businesses learn best practice in the current climate with tips on preventative measures, social distancing and what businesses should now be doing. What is great about this is that it is entirely online, helps you understand the essential information and it only takes 30 minutes of study which could be life-saving in the long run. You can check out the course HERE.

Sparky Ninja’s Webinars

We’ve been spending more time online, admittedly more time than we would like on our screens so why not brush up your industry knowledge? Sparky Ninja has been sharing a wealth of knowledge on YouTube covering topics from inspection and testing to thermal imaging for electricians. You can find all webinars and other useful learning resources on his channel HERE.

The e5 Group Podcast

The e5 Group Podcast has been a favourite of ours even before the lockdown began. A great source of information for anyone working in the trade or looking to get insight into best practices. Covering more technical information in easy to digest soundbites to more personal issues, this podcast gives you a real insight into the minds of electricians, while learning something along the way. The e5 Group dive deep into current topics in each episode, welcoming some guests along the way. Last month, our MD Ian Arbuckle featured on Episode 49 which you can watch HERE.

We would also like to open this up to other businesses and people working within the industry, what have you found insightful during lockdown?
