LINIAN’s Wes Arbuckle has been selected as a Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) Innovation Champion

LINIAN is delighted to announce that their Innovation Director, Wes Arbuckle, is now a Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) Innovation Champion.

The Construction Scotland Innovation Centre is one of eight industry led and demand-driven Innovation Centres supported by Scottish Funding Council, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands & Islands Enterprise and 13 Scottish university partners.

Since launching in October 2014, their industry-led team have been linking together businesses, university experts and public sector providers including Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International to support businesses to deliver transformational change in construction.

Wes had this to say about his recent appointment: ‘I’m delighted to have been accepted as an Innovation Champion. Innovation is at the heart of LINIAN and we use our time and expertise not only developing existing products but creating new products to compliment the LINIAN Fire Clip range.

Not only have I worked in the construction industry for a number of years my experience and dedication to driving change, is demonstrated in our products and culture within the business.  I look forward to sharing this experience and knowledge by bringing ideas to the table. Not only am I looking forward to working with my peers within the industry I’m honoured to have been asked to participate in such a great programme’.

The role of an Innovation Champion is to ensure that CSIC is outward facing and industry-led. Some of the key objectives include:

  • To review project applications submitted to CSIC for innovation funding support; closing dates for applications are set, allowing Innovation Champions to plan the review process around business commitments for the duration of 2018.
  • To highlight emerging opportunities for innovation within the built environment; issues, technological or legislative developments to be drawn to the attention of the construction industry.
  • To flag potential areas/ ideas for workshops and events to help inform CSIC industry engagement and stimulate collaboration and innovation.

So, what does being an Innovation Champion mean?

The champions form an expert pool of thought leaders which CSIC can draw from as it continues to supercharge innovation across the construction industry. Those with relevant expertise will also be asked to review project applications submitted to CSIC, ensuring the centres funding delivers maximum social, environmental and economic impact.

CSIC will be running a series of industry-focused campaigns throughout 2018. Each featuring a different area within an industry, aiming to raise awareness of the issues surrounding them. You can find out more here.
